One Act Play
Directed by: Mrs. Christianson
One Act play is a MSHSL (Minnesota State High School League) activity in which a cast and crew of not more than 20 students performs a play that cannot exceed 35 minutes. Each cast must provide their own costumes, make-up, sound, props and sets. Crews are given 10 minutes to set the stage prior to their performance. Three judges then evaluate and rank schools based on the following criteria: educational value, characterization, voice, technical elements, and overall effectiveness.
The play performed during the 2011-2012 contest season was “The Suessification of Romeo and Juliet” by Peter Bloedel. Sub section competition was held at Battle Lake on Saturday January 28th. UHS took the stage and put on a great performance. We ended the day tied for 1st place, and came up short in the tie breaker to finish in 2nd place overall.
