The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Underwood Cub Scout Pack 325. After the Pledge of Allegiance, a prayer was read by Don Klaksvik from the Underwood American Legion.

Then a select few read peoms composed by themselves were read aloud. Starting with Alysse Friedrich who read her original poem, "Freedom". Followed by Megan Thormodson reading her own poem, "Liberty's Bells are Ringing". "Thank You (My Hero)" was also read by Samantha Stender.

After the poems, the Elementary Choir, directed by Dana Flint; accompanied by Judy Hoffbeck, sang "Lift the Flag of Freedom" by Greg Gilpin. Followed by the Underwood Concert Choir, which sang "The World of our Dreams" by Jeffrey Ames.

Next the winners of the Voice of Democracy Essays were named by Aaron Johnson.

Once the winners were named and awarded the Underwood High School Band played "American Heros: A Tribute to the Armed Force" by Carl Strommen, narrated by John Hamann and Directed by Chuck Speer.
