Reading Themes and Goals for the Month of January:   

            Analyzing Author's Purpose:  Deciding if the author is writing a passage to inform, entertain, or             persuade.  You can also decide why the author included certain information, like a graphic, or why             an author included different structures in nonfiction texts (description, sequence, compare/contrast,             cause/effect, or problem/solution).

 

RIPL Moments at Underwood School

*Elementary student offered some cough drops to another student who wasn't feeling well.  

*A student was bumped in the hallway and dropped his things.  An older student stopped and asked if he was ok.  

*Without being asked, a student shoveled the front entrance after getting off the basketball bus.

*2 junior high girls have been helping clean up the commons after lunch.  

 

If you plan to order a high school or elementary yearbook, please do so before the end of February.  Mr. Hartman will send in the number of yearbooks and he doesn't order extras.  Go to Jostens.com to order.

 

Attention Seniors!  Now is the time to sign up for the Mr. and Miss Underwood Snow pageant!  Please see Mrs. Cruz or Mrs. Hoyt if you are interested in competing for the crown.  Coronation will be during Snow Week.  The deadline to sign up is today.

 

Trap Team Meeting – There will be a meeting for everyone who is interested in being on the 2020 Underwood Trap Team.  Wednesday, January 29th starting at 6:30 pm in the school commons.  This meeting will be for students with parents.  To be eligible – students must be in 7th through 12th grade, must have successfully completed their gun safety training and cannot be on the school’s deficiency list.  We will address rules for the upcoming season as well as signup for available time slots for either Tuesday or Wednesday competitions.  Signup order will begin with current senior team members, then juniors and so on.  New team members will follow using the same order.  If you are interested in being on the team and for some reason you cannot make this meeting, you need to contact Coach Jensen at pbj@prtel.com or 218-731-0918.  There will be a Parent’s Trap Team Booster Club meeting immediately following to discuss a couple of items.
