1st Grade

February 7, 2012 was the 100th day of school.  The first graders celebrated by making hats, Fruit Loop necklaces, eating "gorp" and sorting and graphing 100 items they brought from home.

On Thursday, February 2, the first grade classes visited the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls. We were outside for an hour exploring the prairie and enjoying the beautiful weather.  We looked for animal tracks and scat and found many interesting items.  We also went in the barn where they have a burrow made of cardboard and sheets to resemble a burrow in the winter.  Each of the children crawled through the burrow and discovered many animals and items inside of it.  We learned so much and Molly and Theresa did a wonderful job teaching us.

In January 2012 Mrs. Handegaard's class used the pattern blocks to create designs. Some are shown below.

In December 2011 the first graders enjoyed making soldiers with the seventh grade art class.  Most of the seventh graders made it when they were in first grade so they were a great help.  We had a great time and enjoy seeing the soldiers in the hallway.

First Grade studied the Native American culture in the month of November 2011. Missy Hermes visited the first grade classrooms on November 29.  She shared  many Native American artifacts with us and we enjoyed learning about them.
