SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

These are scholarships that the school has received information about. Please contact Mrs. Breer with any questions.  Applications can also be found in the school library. 


David H Beighley Scholarship
Application due by April 3, 2020
The Beighley Family and Minnesota West Ottertail Darkhouse and Angling Association have established a memorial scholarship in the amount of $1,000 in the name of David H Beighley.  The Scholarship is open to all graduating seniors who are planning to attend any type of college (2 or 4 year).  Preference will be given to students entering a field related to natural resources but will not be limited only to those students.

AAUW - Fergus Falls Branch
Application due by April 3, 2020
The Fergus Falls branch of the American Association of University Women is pleased to announce that it is once again offering scholarships.  It is important for applicants to realize that the scholarships will be granted on the basis of the whole person not simply performance on standardized test scores or grade point averages.  General factors that will be taken into consideration are the following: leadership, dedication to lifelong learning, completion of the essay, life experiences, extracurricular activities, and the applicant appraisal forms.

Russell Jensen Scholarship
Application due by April 15, 2020
To be eligible for this $250 scholarship, you must be graduating this year and attending a post-secondary education in an electrical-related field.

Sunrise Rotary Club Performing Arts Scholarship
Application Due April 15, 2020
The Sunrise Rotary Club of Fergus Falls is awarding a $750 Scholarship to a senior at Fergus Falls High School, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, Underwood High School or a home school student who has displayed accomplishments in one or more areas of the the performing arts: band, orchestra, choir, drama, speech or dance.

Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship
Application due by April 15, 2020
Receive up to $2500 to pursue career and technical education.  To be eligible applicants must be enrolled in a 2 year or less career or technical degree/certification program in Fall that will lead to employment, demonstrate financial need, applicants must be Pell grant eligible.

Lake Region Healthcare Careers Scholarship
Application due by April 24, 2020
This one time $1000 scholarship is to be a gift given to students who are pursuing a healthcare related career.  A GPA of 2.5 or above is required to apply.  The scholarship committee will award scholarships of $1,000 based on need and academic ability.  Scholarship recipients will be given their scholarship monies once he/she has successfully completed one quarter or one semester of the course where at least 12 credits were taken.

​MSUM Alumni Foundation
​Application due by April 30, 2020
Any Underwood graduate who is attending Minnesota State University of Moorhead as a Freshman is eligible to apply for this scholarship.  Applicants must include a 200-300 word typed paper, submit a resume, and an application form.  Application is found on the MSUM website.  

Lillian Saure Nursing Scholarship
Application Due by May 15, 2020
Students entering or continuing a nursing program next fall have a scholarship opportunity to pursue through the PioneerCare Auxiliary. This scholarship opportunity is open to employees at Pioneer Care Center, Pioneer Cottages, Pioneer Pointe and community members in the Fergus Falls area.

SCHOLARSHIP TIPS 

Tip #1:  Have you talked to your church, insurance agent, bank,or your parents' place of employment yet?  Those are all excellentresources for scholarships. 

Tip #2:  You never know what you are capable of unless you try -don’t be the student that later regrets not going for it and giving ittheir all.

Tip #3:  If you are going to apply, do a good job.  Theperson/people reviewing it won’t spend time trying to understand yourhandwriting and will know if you took your time on it.

Tip #4:  DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF TO THIS LIST!
