Bus Mechanic/Coordinator
Compensation: $22.00-$26.00 per hour (Depending on qualifications)
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing repairs and maintenance functions on all district transportation vehicles and ensuring all vehicles are in safe operating condition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum 3 years documented experience repairing and servicing school buses or medium duty trucks.
2. Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring a proficient understanding of school bus repair.
3. Ability to overhaul engines on both gasoline and diesel-powered trucks, vans and school buses.
4. Valid CDL license with School Bus endorsement, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
5. Knowledge of Registry of Motor Vehicles school bus safety inspection procedures.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Service and Inspect all district vehicles
Keep Inventory on parts, supplies and equipment.
Keep the service area clean and free of fire hazards, trash and dangerous working conditions.
Report to supervisor those who are not properly caring for vehicles.
Keep up to date on changes and requirements of servicing a school bus fleet.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each vehicle.
Substitute as a bus driver/van as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Be “on call” outside of regular work hours as necessary for emergency breakdowns and service, as well as snow removal and general property maintenance
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Class B CDL with School Bus endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 3 months
Positive interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
Ability to interact with all ages of children
Fully participate in training as requested
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email and Google products
Prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
A new bus garage was built in 2015 to accommodate 12 buses and 3 vans.The Underwood region is centrally-located in the lakes area of Otter Tail County.
